Doug & Marie's Kitchen Adventure

A daily progress journal

What it looked like before…

Bear with me as I scan and put up some photos of the kitchen from years past. I’ll try not to get too nostalgic about this (after all, it is the kitchen my kids grew up in…). Nostalgia is part of the remodeling process, right? Hmm. Will have to explore that idea some more along the way. Anyway, here are a few recent views.

Back porch and back kitchen area. The new kitchen will extend out to about the edge of the porch.

Back porch and back kitchen area. The new west wall of the kitchen will come out about two-thirds of the way to the edge of the deck pictured here.

 Marie-in-her-office

Here is Marie in her “office.” This kitchen counter is going away to make room for an open area that links the east and west kitchens. Speaking of nostalgia, see that kid height-o-meter on the door trim next to her? That artifact is going to be relocated downstairs with the family archive!

Emma-Back-Kitchen

This back kitchen area was a great place to sit and chat, drink tea, knit (as you can see) and catch up on e-mail.
